366TAS: 6:09 – Cut Copy – Need You Now

Australian FlagAs the year winds to a close, so does the 366TAS project. With a touch over 100 days left in the year, we’re still a long way from the finish line, but as we near the end, I’ll make mention of songs that are the last of some kind to be posted for the year. The last cover song, the last instrumental, the last 2012 release… that sort of thing. Today is our first “the last” of the year as we bid an early farewell to our friends from the Land Down Under with the last Australian artist of the year, Cut Copy. Here’s a full accounting of the six Australian acts that have been posted this year:

3:40 – INXS – New Sensation
4:39 – Gotye – In Your Light
4:41 – Wolfmother – Joker & the Thief
4:59 – AC/DC – It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)
5:17 – Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds – There She Goes, My Beautiful World
6:09 – Cut Copy – Need You Now

If you’re holding out for Air Supply, Men at Work, Midnight Oil, Dirty Three, Crowded House, Jet, Boytown, Ben Lee, Tame Impala, Empire of the Sun, Silverchair, An Horse, Natalie Imbruglia or Olivia Newton-John, you’re probably out of luck. Sorry! In the meantime, appreciate the rest of the fine contributions the Aussies have made, including Cut Copy’s leadoff track from their 2011 album, Zonoscope, “Need You Now”.
