366TAS: 4:33 – Urban Dance Squad – Deeper Shade of Soul

4:33 is a time loaded with songs from my high school days: the Counting Crows’ “Mr. Jones”, Paul Westerberg’s “Dyslexic Heart” from the Singles soundtrack, Arrested Development’s “Tennessee”, plus more tracks from Better Than Ezra, Nine Inch Nails, Living Colour and the Dave Matthews Band. With all those equally relevant choices, plus a track from the Dayton Sidewinders (who I’m sure John would appreciate!), why go with Urban Dance Squad here? Simply put, to add more of an international flair to the list.

Urban Dance Squad is the first act I’ve featured here to be from the Netherlands (!! … yeah, I was surprised too!). With yesterday’s first Norwegian act, that brings us to eleven different nations as the origin point for the artists on the countup so far (USA, Canada, UK, France, Sweden, Japan, Australia, Austria, Peru, Norway and the Netherlands, if you’re keeping score at home, and that doesn’t count the members of American bands Gogol Bordello and Dengue Fever, who hail from an additional seven nations). Off the top of my head, I know that we’ll be hearing from artists from at least eight additional nations by the time we’re done. Care to guess which ones?
