366TAS: 4:01 – Squeeze – Tempted

There are more than a few karaoke favorites for me to choose from at 4:01, including my very first karaoke song (which remains a favorite to this day, but is not currently in my iTunes library). “Tempted” is among those ranks mostly because it was one that a few different people sang at my old regular karaoke bar. One of the catches that we always had with the song was a mysterious pitch shift in one part of the lyrics that was in certain versions of the song and not in other versions. Every time I would hear it on the radio, the shift was there, every time my buddy Dan would hear it, it wasn’t. Eventually, we figured there were two separate versions of the song, but has anyone else noticed this? Is the difference apparent between an original and a remastered version? A greatest hits version? It seemed like an odd quirk… still a good song though!

If I did my own Canada Watch, this song would count: Hot Hot Heat’s 2005 gem, “Middle Of Nowhere”:
