366TAS: 3:41 – Lykke Li – Breaking It Up

Lykke Li’s second album, Wounded Rhymes, was one of my top ten albums from last year. I was a little surprised by this because her first effort, Youth Novels was good and had a few catchy tracks like “Breaking It Up”, but there was something missing. It was a nice light dance pop album with a few good songs, but it didn’t suggest to me that she would produce an album with the depth of Wounded Rhymes for her sophomore effort. Both albums are recognizably pop music, but stylistically and thematically they’re rather different. Even though Youth Novels may not have earned as many accolades as Wounded Rhymes, they both have something to offer and I recommend checking ’em both out.

Oh, and yes, that is a megaphone she’s singing into. Here’s the alternate video, which also features her crazy Swedish dancing. More on that later…

I liked “Get Some” from that Lykke Li album.

I’ve got one of my favorite disco-era vocals, Thelma Houston’s “Don’t Leave Me This Way”:
