366TAS: 2:41 – Micachu – Golden Phone

Throughout the year, I’ll be featuring lots of different types of bands. There will be plenty of traditional four-piece rock bands with a singer, guitar player, bassist and drummer. There will also be pianos, horns, tambourines, accordions, harmonicas, handclaps and many different kinds of stringed instruments. Today, however, belongs to Mica Levi and her unique collection of homemade instruments such as a modified hammer-action guitar (a “chu”) and an unnamed bowed instrument made from a CD rack. Micachu uses these unusual instruments and sounds to craft and define her unique brand of improbable, catchy pop songs like “Golden Phone.”
