366TAS: 2:36 – Sleigh Bells – Infinity Guitars

I was awfully tempted to go with “Flash Forward” by Serge Gainsbourg here, if only because I chose a song from his daughter Charlotte yesterday. As much as I wanted to hold Sleigh Bells back for the infectious “Rill Rill” from their debut album, I feel like I ought to go with a band that’s having a big week. Sleigh Bells will be playing Saturday Night Live this weekend and on Tuesday, they’ll release their second album, Reign of Terror.

On the SNL front, I was a little surprised to hear that they had been selected as the musical guest. I guess I just didn’t think they had the cachet for that kind of stage. Then again, I seem to know nothing about how popular various bands are. That said, I’m still baffled as to why certain indie rock bands manage to have breakout, crossover hits (Foster the People, anyone?) while others don’t. Luck of the draw, I suppose. I’m not sure whether I wish there were more going on there or not… In any case, “Infinity Guitars” rocks out pretty nicely. I can at least understand why I might pick them for an SNL spot.

I’m really enjoying “Comeback Kid,” the first single from the upcoming SB album.

My 2:36 is another “Nuggets” song, “Can’t Seem To Make You Mine” by the Seeds:
