366TAS: 2:23 – The Music Explosion – Little Bit O’ Soul

“Little Bit O’ Soul” is the second pick in a row to reach #2 on the Billboard charts, earning a place on the 4 disc compilation, Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968. I previously mentioned the “funk box” as an excellent compilation that will be the source for several tracks throughout the countdown (“countup?”), I might as well highlight this one too since it will be contributing several picks. Lots of good stuff on there and I could probably use Nuggets tracks for most times between two and three minutes if I wanted.

    2:23 seemed to be a favorite length for those “Nuggets” artists: I also see “Going All The Way” by the Squires and “Sit Down, I Think I Love You” by the Mojo Men at that time in “Nuggets” and “Slaves Time” by the Slaves in “Nuggets II” (the UK sequel). I’ll go with the Squires:
